Jhalana Jaipur Bharatpur Chambal Photolauge - Jan 2019

Year after year, how can you go to the same place? I hear this question time and again. And only thing comes to my mind is of the pilgrimages. Bharatpur and Chambal has become a pilgrimage place for iCampers. We do many small deviations in the same and make sure that its more and more interesting.

This year, we added a new flavor of having 2 safaris in the Jhalana Leopard sanctuary. also we did one night safari to Nagar Gadh and did some night photography. Also did some bird photography on the water bodies near Jaipur. And everything was worth it. We all did lot of photography and achieved a lot of satisfactions.

Here are few of the pics from this camp

Here goes the Bharatpur story of the raptors and a kill

1. As we stopped near the water body during our ride in Bharatpur, we saw a Booted Eagle sitting idle on the mound in water.
2. We took few photos and realized that the raptor has killed a coot and was covering it from the other raptors flying along
3. It waited for a long time before starting to eat it
4. After taking enough rest it started tearing the kill
5. During this process a Western Imperial Eagle came to a near by mound and made booted eagle cautious
6. But the Imperial did not dare to come near the booted eagle and flew away to the nearby trees
7. The Booted Eagle then reached below the skin of coot and started eating it.
8. By then, some crows came in to scavenge.
9. Cleverly Booted Eagle threw parts to the crows and get busy eating his share
10. In some time an Adult Greater Spotted Eagle came over and Booted Eagle and crows have to leave the spot and kill for the king.
11. Greater Spotted started digging in the half eaten coot. But crows started disturbing the king as well
12. Eventually the Greater spotted Eagle decide to get the kill and leave the spot

The whole drama unfolded in front of us in the span of half an hour!!
